"Applied For" Company Parameters

Update company parameters as "Applied For" to prevent delays in onboarding and payroll processing.

We have updated Console and Onboard to allow for users to indicate that certain company parameters are not yet available, but have been applied for by the company. This might be relevant, for instance, for a new business who hasn't received their state-specific EIN from the state agency. Previously this behavior was supported by typing "Applied For" in the text box for these parameters.

When marking parameters as “Applied For”, certain state forms requiring the parameters may be deferred for signature in Check Onboard and Check Components - this is normal, and won't block implementation or payroll. You should direct employers to enter the information as soon as they receive it from the state agency. Entering this information after the company is live may put them in a blocking status, - they'll need to go in and fill out any forms that they had previously deferred. You can consult the company's onboard object in the API to inspect what steps are blocking or need attention.

As a reminder, it is important for this information to be inputted as soon as it becomes available to the employer. Since Check cannot file a company’s taxes with state agencies unless we have all relevant information on hand, missing EINs can cause penalties and interest to accrue.
