Pennsylvania Local Tax Support
Explore Pennsylvania's local taxes, including LSTs and EITs, and stay informed with updates.
Pennsylvania local taxes include the following types of taxes:
- Local Service Taxes (LSTs) β These are local taxes imposed by Pennsylvania municipalities and school districts on individuals working in that jurisdiction, which support local services such as emergency services and road maintenance.
- Earned Income Taxes (EITs) β These are local income taxes imposed by Pennsylvania municipalities on residents and non-residents working in that jurisdiction.
Pennsylvania has over 5,000 of these local taxes, which are updated on an ongoing basis throughout the year. The PA Department of Community and Economic Development maintains two different registers for these taxes:
- A real-time register, which shows the most recent list of local taxes throughout the year
- An official register, which is published twice annually (on June 15th and December 15th)
Employers are only required to withhold from employees using the "official" register. Both the real-time and official registers can be found at the PA Department of Community and Economic Development website.
PA local taxes in Check are currently up to date with the official register that was published on December 15th, 2024.
