Taxes You Must Register For
If you’re starting a business with employees in Florida, you are required to register for:
- Florida Reemployment Tax (also known as State Unemployment Insurance Tax)
🛑 Florida does not impose a state income tax
➤ Reemployment Tax (Unemployment Insurance)
Tax Agency: Florida Department of Revenue (DOR)
Tax Type: Reemployment Tax (SUI/UI)
➤ Registration Methods
✅ Option 1: Register Online
- Go to the Florida Business Tax Application: https://taxapps.floridarevenue.com/taxregistration
- Click “Create New User Profile”
- Enter your username, email address, and password
- Complete and submit the online registration form
➡️ Once approved, you will be issued a Florida Reemployment Tax Account Number
✅ Option 2: Register by Mail or In Person
- Download and complete Form DR-1 – Florida Business Tax Application
- Submit the form:
- In-person at a local Florida Revenue Service Center
- Or by mail to the address listed on the form instructions
➤ Final Step
Once your business is registered, you will receive your Florida Reemployment Tax Number
➡️ Update your Check account with this number to ensure accurate payroll processing
