New Hampshire Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax

The New Hampshire Employment Security (NHES) agency administers the state’s unemployment insurance tax. Employers must register with NHES once wages are paid. Registration cannot be completed more than 30 days in advance of the first date of employment.

Registration Steps

1. Register for a New Hampshire Employer Account Number

  • Review the information required to register
  • Click Next to proceed through the application
  • Agree to the electronic transaction terms and complete remaining registration steps
  • Upon completion, a Determination of Liability and your NH Employer Account Number will be mailed within 7–10 days
  • You will also receive a registration code via mail. This code is required for Check to e-file and submit returns on your behalf

2. Create a Username and Password

  • Click Register to create an employer account
  • Enter employer information and contact details
  • Create a username, password, and set up security questions
  • Submit your registration to access your NHES employer portal

Third-party Administrator (TPA) Access

Provide the registration code that was mailed along with your NH Employer Account Number
