Filings visibility in Console

Notion image

We've added a new Tax filings section in Console for each Company, built upon the Tax Filings API released this fall. You can now see upcoming, blocked, and filed tax returns all in one place.

Blocked filings are visible in this new section with an explanation of the issue and the steps needed to resolve it. Blocked filings are informational and do not have consequences on their own. Delayed filing fees only apply if a filing is processed after the due date or requires multiple filing attempts. In some cases, you can resolve blocked filings by opting out of unwanted or zero-dollar filings directly from Console up until quarter-end filing begins. To learn more, visit the Help Center.

Employer copies of tax documents will be linked directly from this section starting next week. As a reminder, Q4 employer copies will be published on January 12th.

Finally, as part of this release, we have also introduced a new “Tax management” organizational area within the Console sidebar. The Tax deposits section is now located within this area, as is the new Tax filings section.

Filings in CheckAI

CheckAI is now fully integrated with the Filings API, making it capable of answering many of your Quarter End and Year End questions. Try asking it questions like: “What Q4 filings do we plan to make for <company_id>” or “What filings are blocked for <company_id”?

Deactivate any workplace in Console

You can now deactivate any workplace directly from Console, so long as it does not have any employees still associated with it.

Deactivating a workplace prevents new employees or contractors from being assigned to that workplace. If a company is no longer operating in a jurisdiction and wants to stop filing there, you should also visit the Tax filings section in Console to review and opt out of any applicable filings.

2025 Change to How We Print and Mail W-2s to Terminated Employees

To remain compliant, Check prints and mails W-2s for workers without electronic consent and terminated employees. This year, if a Company has their print and mail setting on the Company object configured to manual, Check will not print and mail W-2s for terminated employees. This allows partners and their employers to avoid the print and mail expense if they have another way of providing W-2s to their workers. For full details on how print and mail works for W-2s, review our Year End Playbook.

Amendment tax documents will be separated

Starting January 1, amendment tax documents will appear separately from each other in the documents API with the document_type set to that specific filing type, such as TX C-5 for a Texas SUI amendment. Previously, all amendments from a set of corrections returned as a single PDF with document_type Amended Tax Package.
