Explore CheckAI's new features for payroll questions and notification updates for employers.
CheckAI Just Got Smarter
CheckAI can now answer direct questions about companies, employees, contractors, workplaces, payrolls, payroll items, payments, and more. Go ahead, give it a shot!
Ask things like:
- What is blocking company <company_id> from being able to run payroll?
- When should I expect employees on payroll <payroll_id> to be paid?
- Give me a list of the terminated employees for <company_id>
With this release, CheckAI will be more useful in diagnosing issues and problems that you might ordinarily create a support ticket for.
Finally, a quick reminder — you can always type “I want to talk to a human” in your conversation with CheckAI, and it will create a Zendesk ticket for you, summarizing context from your conversation and sharing it with the Check Support team.
New Notification Topics: Wire Receipts and Failed Payments
We are two (2) new notification topics in Notifications API:
- Wire Receipts: Can be sent to employers after a wire is received to fund a payroll.
- Failed Payment: Can be sent to employers, employees, or contractors if the direct deposit for a payroll fails.
An existing notification topic previously called “Failed Payment”, which was used to notify when a payment was delayed due to a failed instant payment needing to be retried via ACH, has been updated to be called “Delayed Payment”.
Updated Zendesk Email Notification for Failed Fundings
The Zendesk email that is automatically sent when an employer experiences a failed funding has been updated to include more information about the failed funding, impact to payments and other payrolls that have already been approved, and timing for resolution.
In addition, if an employer funds the payroll by wire, a reply to the Zendesk email will now automatically be created notifying you when the wire is received.
For more information about failed fundings and recovery, refer to our Failed Funding guide.
Reminder: Deprecation of the Tax Filings API
Check will be deprecating the Tax Filings API for the Q3 filing period. We are thrilled to announce its replacement: the Filings API. The Tax Filings API will continue to be available in Check’s API through December 31, 2025, but will cease to have up-to-date data beginning in the Q3 filing period.
The Filings API will give partners the ability to see what tax returns Check plans to file for a company in upcoming filing periods, as well as what tax returns Check has filed for a company in past filing periods. Information like status, status history, blocking reasons, amendments, and related documents will all be queryable through the Filings API. Using this API partners will be able to communicate to customers with confidence regarding the status of past and upcoming filings, and even create a comprehensive filings dashboard.
The Filings API will be available in Sandbox in early September, and GA on September 18th. If you are currently using the Tax Filings API to power failed filing notifications, please plan to migrate to the new Filings API before the Q3 filing period (October).
