Simulate Sandbox payroll progression with new simulation_mode attribute starting September 2, 2025.
Effective next Tuesday, 9/2/2025, Check will release the ability to simulate the progression of Sandbox payrolls in Console. In addition, a simulation_mode attribute will be added to the payroll resource in Sandbox. We intend to release an API for simulating the progression of Sandbox payrolls in the coming weeks.
Today, when a payroll is approved in the Sandbox environment, it automatically transitions from pending to processing to paid every five minutes. With this change, this will remain the case for Sandbox payrolls with a simulation_mode of automatic, which will be the default when creating Sandbox payrolls. Sandbox payrolls with a simulation_mode of manual will not automatically transition; instead, they must be transitioned in Console on that payroll’s page. A payroll with a simulation_mode of manual can be transitioned to a processing status, have its funding failed and settled, and have its disbursements completed.
