2025 W-2s and W-2Cs in the Filing Preparation Checklist Component
We’re thrilled to release the ability to download 2025 W-2s and W-2Cs, when applicable, via the Filing Preparation Checklist Component and the Filing Preview Component. The Filing Preparation Checklist component surfaces year end reminders, open tax setup requirements, and W-2s preview to help get your employers ready for Year End. The Filing Preview component is a subset of the checklist component and gives you the ability to view W-2s and W-2Cs before and after filing is completed. Implementing these components ensures your companies are ready for Year End and reduces the likelihood of amendments once filing is completed. Here is a Loom walking through how to use the Filing Preparation Checklist component.
Redesigned Filings API
Today we’re releasing the redesigned Filings API. The Filings API gives partners the ability to see what tax returns Check plans to file for a company in upcoming filing periods, as well as what tax returns Check has filed for a company in past filing periods. Information like status, status history, blocking reasons, amendments, and related documents will all be queryable through the Filings API. Using this API, partners will be able to communicate to customers with confidence what the status of their past and upcoming filings are.
As a reminder, the deprecated Tax Filings API will continue to be available in Check’s API through December 31, 2025 but will cease to have up-to-date data beginning in the Q3 filing period in October. If you’d like guidance on how to migrate between APIs, review this guide.
Sandbox Simulation API
We have released a new API for simulating the processing of payrolls in Sandbox.
Today, when a payroll is approved in Sandbox, it automatically transitions from “pending” to “processing” to “paid” every five minutes. With this change, you now have the ability to manually control and simulate various processing events for payrolls in Sandbox (for example, a successful or failed funding).
